About

Welcome to the world of Cupcake Cardigans, where vintage fashion and style, particularly from the 50s, is celebrated and recreated.

My adventure started when I began customising cardigans after being inspired by a vintage-style shop I visited in central Manchester. There were allsorts of gorgeous clothes, made from modern fabrics but with a retro twist. I could have bought so much, but decided to resurrect my sewing skills and give it a go myself. I was really pleased with the results and found it gave me a much needed creative output.

I love vintage fashion and have bought many vintage items, but I am a stickler for fabric and am not a fan of static-creating polyester! I have no desire for an electric shock everytime I touch a metal surface! This is the downfall of many vintage clothing which is made from cheap crimplene. Though this venture started with cardigans, I have begun to expand my range by resurrecting those lovely vintage patterns and making them from beautiful cottons and modern fabrics which are kinder to the skin.

You may also like my range of accessories which are inspired by the style, shapes and quirkiness of the past.

I hope you like this blog and how it develops, as more examples of my work are posted onto the site!

If you are interested in purchasing any of the items, please contact me or visit my shop on Etsy.com by clicking here.
